Response of Bishop Stefan of Trenton and North America to “Edict” #09/2014 of the Moscow Patriarchate Bishops Abroad

Esteemed former brethren in the bosom of the ROCA:

Seven years later you decided to depose us, the eight bishops who did not go with you in your pernicious move to unite with the Moscow Patriarchate.

Immediately, unwittingly, the falsehood written in your “edict” stands out, that we “did not heed the several admonitions and suspensions from your ruling hierarchs”.  I, over the course of the last seven years never received anything like that from anyone – neither admonitions, nor suspensions, nor letters, nor words.  My last exchange of words with any one of you, was with Metropolitan Laurus on 29 May/11 June, 2007.

When Met. Laurus saw that he was not able to persuade me to follow your traitorous path, he asked me in writing to hand over to him the Antimins, holy myrrh, and book of records.  I traveled to Jordanville and personally handed him all that he had requested. The conversation was brief.  I fulfilled his request and he fulfilled my desire for me and my parishioners to be left alone and we parted forever.  No suspension from my “ruling archbishop” ever followed!

Ответ Епископа Стефана Трентонского и Северо-Американского на «Указ» (№ 09/2014) заграничным епископам Московского Патриархата

Уважаемые некогда бывшие наши собратья в лоне РПЦЗ:

         Семь лет спустя Вы решили лишить сана нас восемерых епископов, не пошедших с Вами на пагубную унию с Московской Патриархией.

         Сразу невольно бросается в глаза неправда, написанная в Вашем «указе», что мы «не вняли неоднократным увещеваниям и  прещениям своих правящих архиереев..»  Я, в течении последних семи лет, никогда и ни от кого не получал ничего подобного – ни увещевания, ни запрещения, ни письма, ни слова.

         Мой последний обмен слов с кем-либо из вас, был с митропо-литом Лавром  29мая/11 июня 2007г.

         Когда м. Лавр увидел, что он меня не уговорит идти вашим предательским путем, он письменно попросил меня передать ему Антиминс, Св. Миро и метрическую книгу. Я проехал в Джорданвилль и лично передал ему просимое. Разговор был краткий. Я исполнил его просьбу и он исполнил моё желание оставить меня с моими Прихожанами в покое, и мы навсегда расстались. Никакого запрещения  в священнослужении  моим  «правящим архиереем» не последовало!

A Commentary on the Union Between The GTOC and The Greek Synod in Resistance (Cyprianites) - Protopresb. Victor Melehov

In considering the recent union between the synod of the GTOC under Archbishop Kallinikos and the Synod in Resistance (Cyprianites), or for that matter, the possible union of any of the Greek synods since the wholesale apostasy of the Greek Church in 1924, and the subsequent emergence of the many competing True Orthodox synods, one might consider that a miraculous event has transpired.  If, on the other hand, all that has occurred was a merger between a True Orthodox synod and a heretical synod, we have witnessed a tragedy, or another apostasy.  As the saying goes; adding clean water to polluted water does not cleanse the polluted water.  It merely pollutes the clean water.

Рассматривая недавнее воссоединение Синодов Греческой ИПЦ – архиепископа Каллиника и Синода противостоящих (киприанитов), или в связи с этим возможное соединение других конкурирующих греческих Истинно-православных синодов, возникших после всеобщей апостасии Греческой Церкви в 1924 году, можно подумать, что случилось чудо. Однако, с другой стороны, если все, что произошло – это слияние Истинно-Православного синода с еретическим, то мы становимся свидетелями трагедии или другой апостасии. Как говорится, добавление чистой воды к грязной, не очистит грязную воду, а просто загрязнит чистую.
